Dr Omam Esther is an International Development Expert, Global Peace Champion, peacebuilder, mediator, humanitarian practitioner and social entrepreneur with over three decades of experience working at the intersection of humanitarian action, development and peacebuilding.
She is the Executive Director of Reach Out Cameroon and serves as a Civil Society Board Member of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) Global Funding Board, Special Rapporteur of Cameroon’s National Women’s Convention for Peace, and G100 Cameroon Country Chair for Mentoring & Motivation.
Dr Omam holds a PhD in Diplomacy and Conflict Management, with research focused on the indispensable role of women in conflict resolution, drawing lessons from Cameroon’s Anglophone crisis. She is also a recipient of a Doctorate Honoris Causa in Leadership and International Business Management.
In 2019, she briefed the United Nations Security Council on the situation in Cameroon and the critical role of women in peacebuilding.
Her work spans community peacebuilding, women’s leadership and economic empowerment, humanitarian response, food security, livelihoods, entrepreneurship and climate-smart development. She is particularly passionate about advancing locally led solutions and strengthening collaboration between communities, governments, civil society, the private sector and development institutions.
Dr Omam believes that Central Africa’s transformation must be driven not only by its abundant resources, but by peace, accountable leadership, strategic collaboration, stronger institutions and investment in the ingenuity and resilience of its people.
