Maximilienne is a leading Cameroonian activist and has been the Executive Director of the Network of Human Rights Defenders in Central Africa (REDHAC) since 2010. REDHAC is a regional organization based in Douala, active in eight Central African countries, working to protect human rights defenders and promote fundamental freedoms. Active since the 1990s, she has become a central figure in the fight for democracy, civil rights, social justice, and freedom of expression.

At REDHAC, she coordinates investigations into human rights violations, establishes protection mechanisms for activists at risk, and conducts advocacy with African and international institutions. She is also a board member of the Pan-African Network of Human Rights Defenders and treasurer of the African Democracy Network.

Her commitment has earned her several prestigious awards, including the Franco-German Prize for Human Rights and the Rule of Law (2016), the International Women of Courage Award awarded by the US State Department (2021), and the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award (2022), which she shares with Cameroonian lawyer Félix Agbor Nkongho.
