Monique Kwachou is a Cameroonian writer, scholar-activist, and development consultant whose work spans research, creative practice, and youth development. Guided by African epistemologies, particularly African-feminist thought, and rooted in critical pedagogy, she engages communities as co-creators of knowledge, documenting, preserving, and transforming lived realities. Across her work, she explores the power of education and creativity to challenge social injustices, amplify marginalised voices, and inspire lasting change, bringing together scholarship, storytelling, and action in a practice deeply attentive to feeling, memory, and collective becoming. Aside from her academic publications and poetry collections, Monique’s writing (short stories, essays, and creative nonfiction) has appeared in anthologies including Bakwa’s Of Passion and Ink, the Caine Prize for African Writing Anthology, and FEMRITE Uganda’s African Women’s Writing collection, as well as platforms such as African Is a Country and This is Africa.
Monique is currently an independent researcher but maintains honorary associate afiliation with the University of Buea, University of the Free State and the University of Bristol where she has previously worked.

She is equally a board member for institutions such as Better Breed Cameroon and CINEFEMFEST.
