Marie Pierre Raky Chaupin has joined the UN Women office in Cameroon as Resident Representative after 26 years of extensive experience in program and policy formulation and implementation, including 22 years working on the institutionalization of gender in programs. Prior to this appointment, Raky served as Deputy Country Representative for UN Women in Mali (2020-2023). She also served as Deputy Head of the Gender Unit for MINUMA in Mali (2019-2020). Previously, she was Regional Gender Advisor for the World Food Programme (WFP) at the World Career Advisory Region (WCARO), covering 19 countries (2016-2019).

Before joining WFP, Raky held the position of Country Programme Coordinator for UN Women in Senegal (2012-2016) and that of Coordinator of the UN Trust Fund on Violence against Women, as well as that of Coordinator of the UN Secretary-General’s Campaign against Violence against Women, in the West Africa region for the UN Women Regional Office (2009-2012). Raky, who is of Senegalese nationality, began her professional career in international NGOs (Belgian and Canadian) in the field of rural development and as an advisor on gender issues before joining the UN in 2009. Raky holds a Master’s degree and a DEA in Sociology from Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, a Master 2 in Human Rights from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, and a Certificate of Specialization on Women and Development from the University of Antwerp (Belgium).
